Working for a Greener Fort Lauderdale!

Mix it. Curb it.New “Mix It. Curb It.” Single-Stream Recycling Cart Program Coming Soon!

In the summer of 2012, the City of Fort Lauderdale is launching Mix It. Curb It., a new program that will make recycling much easier for our neighbors. As part of the Mix it. Curb it. program, the City will be providing residential recycling customers with new, blue, 65-gallon carts that will hold all clean recyclables. Soon, hoisting and lugging those heavy bins full of recyclables will be a task of the past; you’ll be able to mix all clean recyclables together into one cart and roll it to the curb. It’s that simple.

We have prepared a list of Frequently Asked Questions to help prepare our neighbors for the launch of the Mix It. Curb It. recycling program.

Bulk Trash

The Bulk Trash Pickup Program features bulk trash collection of large household items and tree trimmings, up to 10 cubic yards in size, for residential customers. Pickup days are once a month including scheduled holidays (except for Christmas Day). Items accepted for bulk trash pickup include appliances, furniture, carpet, mattresses, toys, wood scraps, cabinet doors, tree clippings, leaves in boxes/bags or tires (4 max.). The City provides special pickups by appointment, for a fee, for items exceeding the 10 cubic yard limit and for additional services. The City now recycles 100% of all yard waste. Separating yard waste from other bulk trash at the curb helps keep disposal costs down.

In the City of Fort Lauderdale, trash is picked up everyday of the year except December 25. To find out the pick up days for your area, please use the Property Information Reporter. (NOTE: This application is unavailable between the hours of 11 pm and 2 am.)
